Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and communicate with laboratory staff and investigators.
- Ability to maintain complete and organized records/reports.
- Working knowledge of computer software and general lab equipment.
- Demonstrated competency in isolating and characterizing primary cell cultures, ELISA, western blotting, qPCR, FACS analysis, and immunofluorescence microscopy.
- Ability to provide standard care to research animals and perform simple experimental procedures.
Essential Functions:
POSITION SUMMARY: Performs complex research studies allowing for the advancement of scientific analysis and discovery of laboratory projects as part of the team or working individually. Offers support, training , and guidance for laboratory projects. May participate and or present on the research developed within the laboratory or with external collaborators. PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Provides support services for advanced cell culture techniques for the laboratory group and assists others with experiments. Provides support for procurement of reagents and maintains inventory of critical materials for the laboratory.
- Performs complex experiments under general direction of the PI. Exhibits a high degree of independent problem solving and ability to conduct research on assigned projects.
- Plans, develops, organizes and formalizes research results and findings, including performing statistical analyses. Conducts literature searches related to research projects.
- Solves practical problems relating to difficulty with equipment or procedures. Suggests technical/procedural improvements in various methods. May develop and optimize experimental procedures and protocols.
- Organizes and maintains required documentation on lab and/or specimen collections. May communicate findings to various users or external audiences.
- Performs all related work in accordance with established protocols and safety/compliance requirements.
- Works as part of the team to assure progress on projects of importance to the laboratory. Assists in the training and development of other laboratory personnel.
Required Qualifications:
Master’s degree in a related field with seven years of experience in a laboratory setting or an equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience equaling at least ten years.
Salary Range:
The hiring range for this position is $40,706 - $54,933 annually.
