This position coordinates a community-engaged research study. Two primary functions of the position include serving as a liaison to participants and managing day-to-day study activities to meet study goals and fulfill grant obligations.
The Department of Food Science, Nutrition, and Health Promotion (FSNHP) at MSU offers an undergraduate degree with concentrations in nutrition, food science, and culinology; the Master of Science degree in the three concentrations of Nutrition, Food Science, and Health Promotion; and the Doctor of Philosophy degree in Nutrition and Food Science concentrations. Both the department and MSU focus strongly on preparing graduates to excel in their chosen professions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Assist with daily management and administration of a research study. 2. Assist with planning, developing, and implementing of research protocols to ensure successful completion of study goals. 3. Maintains data collection and analysis systems in support of research protocol; may coordinate the collection of research data. 4. Prepares and maintains all Institutional Review Board (IRB) and regulatory paperwork to comply with institutional regulatory requirements. 5. Assists in the recruitment and relationship building of participants and community organizations and provides instructions to meet the goals of the study. 6. Plans and coordinates community advisory board and other meetings/events. 7. Monitors the progress of research activities; develops and maintains records of research activities, and prepares periodic and ad hoc reports, as required by investigators, administrators, funding agencies, and/or regulatory bodies. 8. Serve as a resource and technical assistance to participants, communities, as it relates to focus areas. 9. Perform related duties as assigned
* Bachelor's degree in nutrition, health promotion, administration, or related field. * One (1) year experience in administration, program coordination, or related experience.
* Three (3) years related experience in administration, program coordination, or related experience. * Master's degree in nutrition, health promotion, administration, or related field.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
* Experience in managing projects and leading project teams. * Knowledge of all Microsoft Office Products, and other computer-based programs. * Excellent verbal and written communication skills. * Organizational skills to include time management and multi-tasking. * Ability to work both independently and in diverse teams. * Ability to meet travel requirements of the position. * Demonstrated problem-solving skills. * Ability to work creatively within study goals.
Working Conditions and Physical Effort
No unusual physical requirements. Requires lifting of files, records and study materials. Nearly all work is performed in a comfortable indoor facility. Frequent- External imposed deadlines; set and revised beyond one's control; meeting of deadlines and coordination of related activities are key to position; may involve conflict-resolution or similar interactions. Job frequently requires walking, sitting, reaching, talking, hearing, handling objects with hands.
