Essential Functions:
POSITION SUMMARY: This position is responsible for collaborating with the principal investigator (PI) on the design, conduct and reporting of research projects. PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: - Collaborates with PI on the design, conduct and reporting of research projects.
- Assists with grant preparation and reporting. May submit grant proposals in rare circumstances with the approval of the PI, Department Head and Dean.
- Prepares and submits papers on research.
- Develops hypotheses to be tested and ways of testing it.
- Complies with established safety procedures and maintaining required documentation on laboratory and specimen conditions.
- Manages research project with other institutions and investigators.
Required Qualifications:
Ph.D., M.D. or an equivalent terminal degree and at least three years of postdoctoral experience.

This position is full-time and works approximately 40 hours per week.

Salary Range:
Base pay commensurate with experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Expertise in (1) the use of micropipettors, (2) running polymerase chain reactions (PCRs), (3) digesting DNA with restriction enzymes, (4) running agarose electrophoresis on DNA, (5) running polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (PAGE) on proteins, (6) using sterile technique to conduct microbiological experiments, (7) performing mammalian cell culture, (8) expressing proteins in the bacterium Escherichia coli, (9) performing immobilized metal affinity chromatography (IMAC), and (10) using other general molecular biology techniques.
- Working knowledge of computer software (e.g., Word, Excel) and general lab equipment (e.g., centrifuges, PCR machine, electrophoresis equipment).
- Analytical reasoning and problem solving skills.
- Demonstrated working knowledge of standard laboratory policies, procedures and equipment.
- Ability to communicate in oral and written form with all levels of personnel and technical publications.
- Able to work well independently or as a team member.
