As a Senior Microbiologist at E. & J. Gallo Winery you will play a pivotal role in ensuring microbial stability of a diverse product portfolio and developing cutting-edge analysis tools. You will act as a subject matter expert to guide cross-functional partners in manufacturing, supply chain and new product development.
What You Will Do:
Monitors winery processes and products for any activities and formulations which would/could impact microbial stability
Collects and processes microbial samples, prepares media, records relevant information, and generates various reports
Partners with Winemaking, Cellar, Engineering and Operations, utilizing problem-solving techniques to facilitate investigative action and troubleshoot sources of contamination
Explores and evaluates new microbiological technologies for rapid analysis
Uses polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and spectroscopy to identify yeast and bacteria
Plans, organizes, and participates in field inspections, tests or surveys related to research projects.
May maintain collection of specimens for study or reference purposes.
Responsible for understanding and complying with applicable quality, environmental and safety regulatory considerations. If accountable for the work of others, responsible for ensuring their understanding and compliance.

What You Need:
Bachelor's degree in Biology, Microbiology, Food Science, Molecular Biology or Biochemistry, plus 3 years of microbiology or laboratory technician experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility
Experience with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint at a intermediate level
Required to lift and move up to 25 lbs
What Will Set You Apart:
Bachelor's degree from four-year College or university in Biology, Microbiology, Food Science, or Molecular Biology or Biochemistry, plus 5 years of microbiology or laboratory technician experience reflecting increasing levels of responsibility OR Master’s degree in any of the above disciplines with 2 years of microbiology or laboratory technician experience
Experience using spectroscopy and chemometrics for microorganism identification
