Location: Hyde Park Campus Job Description: - Works closely with the Director of the Duchossois Family Institute to advance the mission of the Institute to promote wellness through groundbreaking science on the immune system, genetics, the microbiome, and their shared environments.
- Screens inventions; evaluates and decides which inventions and software to pursue.
- Works as part of a team to manage patent prosecution.
- Develops and executes marketing plans for inventions and software.
- Works with faculty and industry partners to develop collaborative research programs.
- Works with team members to draft, negotiate, execute, and manage intellectual property licenses and other agreements, such as confidentiality, interinstitutional and material transfer agreements.
- Develops intellectual portfolio patenting, licensing, and commercialization activities. Interprets patent issues and reviews patent prosecution for selected inventions.
- Uses depth and breadth of knowledge to promote the mission and business of the department through developing strong relationships with inventors, legal counsel, prospective and actual licensees, and colleagues.
- Performs other related work as needed.
Preferred Qualifications Education: - Advanced degree in microbiology or related discipline.
Experience: - Knowledge of biochemistry, molecular biology, and/or cellular biology.
- Background in technology transfer (internship or fellowship programs included) at a university or similar research institution.
Preferred Competencies - Expertise in microbiome-related field.
