The Division of Surgical Oncology focuses on the surgical management of tumors and especially cancerous tumors. Our faculty operate within the OHSU Knight Cancer Institute and are recognized as international leaders in personalized medicine, diagnostics and cancer research.
This manager of the Eil Lab will be a critical member of our burgeoning group studying tumor immunology and T cell signaling in the tumor microenvironment. Dr. Eil started his laboratory in August, 2020 and has an activly funded program.
The Senior Research Associate will perform research consistent with the goals of a principal investigator or manage a service core.
This position would be an ideal opportunity to establish a long-term relationship guiding role in the direction of a lab in the early phases. The Eil lab will grow significantly over the next several years. Benefits of this position include opportunity acquisition of skills relevant to T cell immunotherapy, access to clinical samples, potential collaboration with external biotechnology (if desired), ownership of independent scientific projects, and input on laboratory direction that would not otherwise be possible in larger estabished groups. Responsibilities include:
Preclinical models of T cell immunotherapy for cancer
In vitro T cell culture and genetic engineering
Acquisition and processing of clinical specimens
Developing experimental plans for proscribed and novel research, teaching lab personnel
Analysis, interpretation, and presentation of data, including travel for and attendance at conferences
Doctorate degree in relevant field; OR Master's degree in relevant field and 5 years of relevant work experience; OR Bachelor's degree 9 years of relevant work experience
Microbiology, NGS analysis, murine models of human disease, cell culture
PhD in biology, biochemistry, biomedical engineering, immunology, or equivalent research related field
Flow cytometry, FACS, single-cell RNA seq, CRISPR-Cas9 genetic engineering, viral mediated genetic engineering, western blots
