Responsibilities for this position include excellence in teaching; research (including publications in scholarly, refereed journals and presentations at learned societies); service to the department, school, university, and profession; and any additional duties assigned by the department chair. The incumbent for this position will serve as the Head of Microbiology at Vidant Health and will be expected to fulfill all CLIA/CAP responsibilities of the technical director. The incumbent will teach our residents and the infectious disease fellow as well as medical students in the area of routine Microbiology laboratory testing as well as molecular testing. The incumbent will also work with colleagues and develop a translational research program in the area of Microbiology.

Candidates must have a MD, DO, MBBS, or PhD from an accredited school. Must be board certified or board eligible in clinical pathology or combined anatomic pathology and clinical pathology. Board certification or eligibility in one or more clinical pathology subspecialties is required. The candidate must be eligible to obtain an active North Carolina medical license.
