The Research Program Coordinator will administratively coordinate protocol implementation typically for one-three studies under the supervision of 2- 4 principal investigators in the Departments of Antimicrobial Stewardship and Hospital Epidemiology at The Johns Hopkins Hospital. Under direct supervision of the Principal Investigator and Program Manager, the Research Program Coordinator is responsible for the overall monitoring of research projects.
Coordinate all activities of a research study to assure validity of findings. Ensure adherence to protocols
Oversee record management for research studies.
Set up database using Qualtrics, REDCap, Excel, Access or similar systems
Serve as a resource for clinicians involved in study in regard to protocol requirements
Abstract medical data from charts requiring some interpretation
Participate in study meetings, record meeting minutes, develops agenda for meetings,
Provide updates on protocol implementation status and make recommendations on operational issues
Assist with IRB writing and submission
Assist with orientation and training of less senior research staff in data collection and data entry (e.g., use of REDCap)
Assist with preparation of Power Point presentations, Excel graphs.
Assist with abstract and manuscript preparation
Assist with grant and contract preparation
Coordinate and conduct surveys, interviews, and focus groups
The responsibilities are diverse and will include, but not be limited to: following activities related to the development and implementation of study protocols; have general knowledge of the research and apply basic analytical skills to administer assigned projects, and to identify situations requiring special attention; using general knowledge will assist in developing recruitment tools for assigned studies, which may include protocol/study specific data collection forms, placing approved advertisements, and contacting physicians for possible referrals; update basic tracking database/spreadsheet based on study requirements utilizing Excel, Access, REDCap or similar software applications; collect data from patient medical records and questionnaires, prepare and code data entry, enter and maintain databases, monitors data quality and accuracy as required by research protocol, may run pre-established routine queries; ensure that case files and accompanying paperwork are organized and current; clerical duties as assigned; process laboratory specimens; and other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in a related field required.
Some related experience required.
Additional education may substitute for required experience and additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
JHU Equivalency Formula: 18 graduate degree credits (semester hours) may substitute for one year of experience.Additional related experience may substitute for required education on the same basis. For jobs where equivalency is permitted, up to two years of non-related college course work may be applied towards the total minimum education/experience required for the respective job.
Experience working with patients (e.g., interviewing, patient interactions) is beneficial but not required.
Previous experience in record abstraction, ideally in a clinical research environment is highly desired.
Two years related experience preferred.
Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Experience working under timelines for completion of work. Prior coursework in biology, microbiology, infectious diseases, or public health, biostatistics is desirable. Attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and multi-task is critical. Knowledge and experience with computer applications including Microsoft word, Excel, Power Point is a requirement. The individual should possess good written and verbal communication skills. Must have the ability to work well and communicate effectively with others as part of a team.
