The Dyhrman Microbial Oceanography group seeks individuals to join the laboratory for postdoctoral research broadly focused on marine microbiology. Applicants will be eligible for either the rank of Postdoctoral Research Scientist or Associate Research Scientist based on post-Ph.D. years of experience. Up to two positions are available.
The incumbent scientist(s) will have the opportunity to work with the PI to design, and execute research focused on marine microbiology, including but not limited to the following themes: 1) Microbiomes and interactions, 2) Microbial biogeochemistry and 3) Phytoplankton physiological ecology. Tools and approaches for this work include molecular, physiological and chemical measurements, with an emphasis on 'omic approaches. Scholars are expected to work collaboratively with other lab personnel to promote a culture of inclusion and contribute to informal mentoring, outreach, and education efforts. Field work is an option, but not required.
Candidates should have a Ph.D. in Microbiology, Oceanography or related field. Experience reflected in a record of publication/s in microbiology, and/or biological oceanography, and computational biology/bioinformatics is required. Familiarity with the analysis of high throughput sequencing data including strong programming skills (e.g., R, Python, etc.) is preferred.

Appointments are made on a fiscal year basis and are eligible for renewal each July 1, contingent upon performance and funding.
