Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume): Ph.D. (or foreign equivalent) in Microbiology/Virology or a related field with emphasis on HIV and/or extracellular vesicle biology in hand by June 2022.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in extracellular vesicles and immunology, molecular biology, and/or bioinformatics. Experience in conducting experiments. Experience in chromatographic and electrophoretic separation methods. Experience developing methods/assays and related instrumentation.
Brief Description of Duties: The ideal candidate will join NIH funded research to investigate the i) role of extracellular vesicles and extracellular condensates in HIV/SIV induced inflammation and barrier dysfunction, and ii) how the use of illicit drugs alter the composition and functions of extracellular vesicles and extracellular condensates. Ideal candidate will also supervise trainees and research assistant, assist the PI in grant writing and manuscript preparation. New and experienced postdoctoral fellows seeking an opportunity to carve a niche in cutting age research are encouraged to apply. The successful candidate must be able to multitask, have the ability to work in collaboration with other members of the laboratory and have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Within the predetermined research scope and methodology, conduct research experiments in the field of Pharmacology.
Collect and analyze data, including periodical/literature search and utilizing specialized skills in related field to analyze the collected data.
Participate/assist in manuscript writing for publication in scientific journals and/or presentations. May also assist in grant writing.
Lab maintenance, including equipment maintenance and ordering of supplies as needed.
Other duties as assigned, which may include attending Scientific Conferences and Meetings.
