The Department of Molecular Microbiology and Immunology is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate to join the laboratory of Dr. Peter Belenky (https://sites.brown.edu/belenkylab/). The Belenky lab is focused on studying antimicrobial mechanisms in microbial communities and isolated microbes. The initial focus of the position will be on the impact of diet on antibiotic mechanisms in the murine gut microbiome. However, it is anticipated that the candidate would develop an original project broadly related to the interest of the lab, including the following topics.
Impact of bacterial metabolism on antibiotic tolerance
Effect of antibiotics on host physiology and obesity
Horizontal gene transfer in microbial communities
Host and environmental reservoirs of antibiotic resistance
Minimum requirements include:
Ph.D. (or Ph.D. candidate) in biology, molecular biology, immunology, pathology, or a related complementary field.
Previous experience in experimental microbiology or computational microbiology, or both.
Excellent writing and oral communication skills
Applicants should submit a curriculum vitae, a cover letter that describes research interest, and contact information for three references. Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled or the search is closed.
