RESEARCH LABORATORY OPERATIONS MANAGER , Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research- Knouse Lab , to manage the operations of a research lab, including oversight of budget, personnel, and facilities and maintaining and overseeing protocols/practices for animal research and laboratory safety. Will serve as primary contact for laboratory staff and participate in and/or oversee--in close collaboration with the principal investigator (PI) and other lab members--the lab's research activities. Responsibilities include managing lab operations and developing new systems/processes to help improve laboratory operations; troubleshooting issues in the lab and developing solutions to address problems; managing laboratory budgets, including following resource allocation for general supplies to keep in line with proposed budgets, maintaining records on individual lab members spending to keep those purchases in line with proposed budgets, and working with MIT financial officers to keep budgets in line; serving as liaison to PI on all personnel matters; managing research laboratory facility, including procuring and maintaining laboratory equipment, inventory, and supplies; preparing shared reagents; facilitating laboratory clean-ups and inspections; managing vendor relationships and service contracts; lab safety management; managing lab website, servers, software/licenses, data storage, and workstations; and performing other duties as required.
Job Requirements REQUIRED : bachelor's degree in related scientific field; at least five years' experience working in a large research laboratory; supervisory experience; strong interpersonal, problem-solving, organizational, technical/scientific writing, verbal communication, and presentation skills; ability to work as part of a diverse team of graduate students, postdocs, research staff and promote collaboration/cooperation among teams; budget management and project management experience; time management and planning skills; and proficiency with Microsoft Office.
