This position assists with research involving the expression of the human cytomegalovirus glycoproteins and biochemical characterization of these proteins. Duties of the position include:
Assist in manipulating and producing plasmid DNAs
Assist in protein purification and characterization
Perform other projects as assigned or requested by the supervisor
The Research Assistant 2 will receive general supervision by an Assistant Professor who will oversee the experimentation, interpretation of the results and the design of future experiments. This position involves standard microbiology laboratory conditions, including exposures such as hazardous chemicals and biohazard waste.
Bachelor's Degree in relevant field; OR Associate's Degree and 3 years of relevant experience; OR 4 years of relevant experience; OR Equivalent combination of training and experience
Laboratory experience with manipulating and expressing plasmids and with mammalian cell culture and transfection of cells
Experience in a molecular biology lab with producing recombinant DNAs, protein purification, and characterization using polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis
Experience doing PCR, imaging of cells and cell culture
