Performs a leadership role at her/his respective campus in providing an active, effective hospital-wide Infection Prevention Program that consists of surveillance, prevention and control of healthcare associated infections under the direction of the System Director of Quality and Clinical Standardization. Presents all Infection related critical information and statistics at Campus Leadership Morning Huddle. Works directly with Campus dyad leadership for campus infection related items. Collaborates as a team member when representing Infection Prevention activities and while working with other professional disciplines to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery and the achievement of desired patient outcomes. Supports and is a role model for the organization vision and mission. This position uses knowledge of patients age and cultural diversity in the provision of patient care. Works independently and with new technology to analyze surveillance findings and trends and researches evidence-based interventional strategies to address areas needing improvement. Co-leads Clinical Consensus workgroups with physicians leads. Develops and presents educational programs designed to change caregiver practices based on surveillance findings and evidence-based protocols. Independently takes off-hours call for Lee Health concerning Epidemiology/Infection Prevention. Serves on select hospital and/or system committees/task forces to provide effective infection prevention-related input for policy and procedure development or practice improvement. Provides input into the annual Infection Prevention Plan and assists in developing departmental priorities. Works in collaboration with the Infection Prevention Medical Director on projects and patient safety work plans. Educates staff at the elbow for all issues regarding Infection prevention and educates and serves as a resource for patients and families.

Has a minimum of three (3) years previous experience in staff nursing or health care related field. The IP must be knowledgeable in patient care practices and/or adult education principles.
