The Vogel laboratory studies the Dot/Icm type IV secretion system (T4SS) of the bacterial pathogen Legionella pneumophila. Potential projects involve (1) polar localization of the Legionella Dot/Icm T4SS, (2) chaperone-mediated export of Dot/Icm substrates, and (3) structural characterization of the Dot/Icm T4SS by X-ray crystallography and cryo-electron microscopy (EM).

Ph.D., M.D. or equivalent terminal or doctoral degree.
Ph.D. in microbiology, cell biology or structural biology.
Strong record of accomplishment.
This position works in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards.Â The individual must be physically able to wear protective equipment and to provide standard care to research animals.
Base pay is commensurate with experience.
