Job Summary The Ploegh Lab is looking for a Research Technologist, whose main responsibility is to support the day-to-day functioning of a collaborative and cutting edge research laboratory that studies molecular aspects of immune recognition and biochemistry of the immune system more generally.
This Research Technologist will be responsible for:
Assisting with daily lab operations.
Prepare stock solutions and tissue culture media supplements.
Keep databases of lab reagents (chemicals, antibodies, plasmids and frozen cells).
Oversee animal colony (including breeding and maintenance of knockout lines) and keeping track of animal inventory and cage counts.
Train new employees on lab procedures, safety and methods.
Assists with ensuring compliance with laboratory safety regulations.
Submit all published plasmids to Addgene.
Assist with protein purification, cell culture, genotyping, and cloning.
Arrange transfer of materials to and from other labs.
Keep lab supplies stocked and equipment in working condition.
Maintain a database of lab expenses including supply purchases and facilities and core costs. Provide PI with monthly accounting of spending.

To qualify, you must have:
Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience OR Masters of Science and 2 years of relevant work experience.
Previous laboratory experience.
Analytical skills to resolve complex problems requiring the use of scientific, mathematical, or technical principles and in depth, experienced based knowledge.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing including assigning and distributing work, coaching, training and enforcing policies.
