IUPUC is located in Columbus, Indiana, and enrolls between 1,500 and 1,800 students annually. A tenure track appointment is available on January 1, 2023, at the rank of Assistant Professor in the Division of Science at IUPUC.
REQUIREMENTS: Candidates should have a Ph.D. or equivalent in one of the specialty areas, or a related field. The successful candidate will teach lectures and labs in one or more of the following areas of specialty: human anatomy, physiology, cell biology, microbiology, or biochemistry. The successful candidate also may be expected to teach courses in general biology for majors and non-majors.
Qualifications include experience teaching undergraduate biology courses. Two laboratory classrooms with preparation areas are available for research activities. Candidates with a research focus on the scholarship of teaching and learning are encouraged to apply. In addition, the candidate needs to have the ability and interest to work with a diverse student population. Candidates should have the desire to improve conditions in and access to higher education for underrepresented students. Strong oral and written communication skills are a must. Successful teaching at the university level is very important.
PREFERENCES: Two semesters of experience in teaching traditional and non-traditional undergraduate students and demonstrated capacity to collaborate with faculty across disciplines is preferred. Preference will be given to candidates with a record of teaching one or more of the following: human anatomy, physiology, cell biology, microbiology, or biochemistry. Preference will also be given to applicants who have a record of teaching and serving underrepresented populations and first-generation college students and a demonstrated commitment to student and community engagement.
