We seek a full-time research associate to assist with an ongoing training program and related studies regarding the detection of waterborne pathogens. The research associate will work with a team that has been building capacity in Michigan to run digital PCR for SARS-Co-V2 for wastewater surveillance and for microbial source tracking (MST) analyses to improve beach management across the state. The selected candidate should have specific experience with digital PCR, optimization and qPCR development of standard curves, and environmental microbiology. Responsibilities include providing technical assistance regarding PCR, microbial source tracking and microbial methods; running training workshops; and partnering with network collaborators on ongoing studies related to the detection and management of waterborne pathogens.

Doctorate -microbiology or related discipline
PhD in microbiology or related discipline, with specialization in water/environmental/food microbiology with a record of undertaking quantitative PCR work. Understanding of water research including collection, processing and analysis of microbes from water samples will be beneficial.
Experience with training or teaching advanced students or professionals preferred.
