Postdoctoral position available immediately in the Purdy Lab to work on M. tuberculosis host-pathogen interactions and cell wall biogenesis.
Tuberculosis is one of the leading causes of death due to infectious disease. Mycobacterial membrane protein large (MmpL) transporters export essential and virulence-associate lipids to the M. tuberculosis cell wall. Current projects 1) define how these cell wall lipids are synthesized and their roles in replication and non-replicating persistence, 2) demonstrate the role of phosphorylation in regulating the function of MmpL proteins 3) identify interacting partners of MmpL proteins.
