The Mellon College of Science (MCS) is home to four departments and many programs and research centers that cross disciplines. We approach scientific problems from fresh angles using creative interdisciplinary approaches while drawing on our departmental strengths in the core sciences. MCS faculty members are nationally and internationally recognized for their research in various fields, including polymer science, cosmology, mathematical finance, and molecular and cellular biology.
The Department of Biological Sciences within the Mellon College of Science is seeking a full- time Research Associate I to work in the laboratory of Dr. Bridges. The Bridges lab focuses on understanding how bacteria regulate developmental decisions based on extracellular sensory information.
Responsibilities will include:
Performing bacterial genetics, strain propagation, and maintenance of strain libraries.
Designing research experiments and research protocols.
Analyzing data, preparing presentations, and writing technical reports.
Compliance with chemical and laboratory safety regulations.
Qualifications:
Bachelor degree in biology, or related field.
1-3 years of laboratory experience.
Candidates should have prior experience in basic laboratory skills. Training for other required skills will be provided.
Strong oral and written communications skills required, including the ability to write short summary reports.
Strong organizational and record keeping skills.
