Job Description:

The Department of Plath Pathology and Microbiology at Iowa State University seeks candidates for a Insect Diagnostician for the Plant and Insect Diagnostic Clinic (PIDC).

Responsibilities

• Receive and respond to human, animal and household pests, plant problem inquiries and samples across a broad range of plants including trees and shrubs (woody plants), herbaceous landscape plants, edible garden plants, turf grass, and various agronomic and specialty crops

• Communicate integrated pest management methods

• Make recommendations to the various clientele groups who depend upon the PIDC

• Represent the PIDC at outreach events such as field days, workshops, and conferences

• Create and disseminate educational content across multiple platforms (social media, websites, videos, etc.) that explains insect pests and plant health management for a wide variety of Extension clientele

The successful candidate will work as part of a collaborative and dynamic team of entomology faculty, plant health care professionals including the PIDC's Plant Disease Diagnostician along with Extension horticulture and field crop specialists, both on and off campus.

This position can be hired at a higher level based on experience level. Minimum qualifications:

• Level I - Bachelor's Degree

  Level II - Bachelor's Degree plus 3 years related experience.

• Works on problems and issues of somewhat limited scope
