POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences (https://obgyn.ucsd.edu/index.html), the Glycobiology Research and Training Center (https://medschool.ucsd.edu/research/GRTC/Pages/default.aspx) and the Lewis Laboratory (https://amandalewislab.com) at the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) are committed to academic excellence and diversity and is seeking enthusiastic and highly motivated Project Scientists who are interested in advancing research and education in the field of Women's Health, Microbiology, and Glycobiology.
Successful candidates will be able to participate on an integrated interdisciplinary research team focused on developing models that refine the causal links between members of the female genitourinary microbiota and conditions impacting women.
The selected Project Scientists will be expected to perform high quality experiments using mice and materials derived from humans, conduct ethical data management and rigorous analysis and make effective writing contributions to manuscripts and grants. In addition, the Project Scientists will also assist with lab management tasks and will contribute to mentorship, training and teaching in research and scientific writing for graduate students, undergraduate students and postdocs in the laboratory.
Appointment will be at the Assistant, Associate or Full Project Scientist level based on background and years of experience.
Basic qualifications (required at time of application) Candidates must have a PhD in Biochemistry, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics or related disciplines.
