To provide coordination of the organization-wide Infection Control Program, including surveillance, prevention activities, data collection, analysis, staff education, and to serve as a resource/consultant for assigned departments/units and Ambulatory Clinics.
Minimum Education:â¢Bachelorâs Degree in Nursingâ¢In lieu of a BSN degree, Masterâs in Public Health Minimum Experience/Knowledge:â¢Minimum two (2) years Infection Control experience (in acute care setting preferred) within the last five (5) years of healthcare experience.â¢Working knowledge of patient care practices, microbiology, asepsis, disinfection and sterilization practices, adult education principles, infectious disease, disease transmission, surveillance techniques, performance measurement and improvement principles, licensing standards and regulations.â¢Computer skills, applied knowledge of applied biostatistics, written and graphical presentation skillsRequired License/Certification:â¢BSN Graduate: Valid and current California Registered Nursing License is required, and CIC preferredâ¢Non-BSN Graduate: Certified in Infection Control (CIC) must be obtained within the 1 year of hire.â¢BLS for the Healthcare Provider from the American Heart Association required.â¢Fire and Safety Certification. If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire, and maintained by renewal before expiration date. (Required within LA City only)
