Posting Summary: Job Description: This is a 12-month, tenure-track position in the Department of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences. Duties will include research, outreach, and teaching with the primary focus on research in an area of meat science with emphasis on meat quality, carcass composition, product development, meat safety, and(or) postmortem processing methodologies. The successful candidate will be expected to develop an independent, extramurally-funded research program supporting the needs of Tennessee livestock producers and meat processors to maintain and market safe and healthy meat products. Development of strategies to increase livestock harvest capacity in the region is a priority. The successful applicant will be expected to generate research data suitable for research publications and outreach factsheets. The individual assuming this position will be expected to interact and collaborate with other departmental researchers working in the areas of meat animal production and food science. Working relationships with livestock producer groups, meat processors, and other meat industry interests should be developed. The university maintains research populations of cattle, goats, and poultry. The successful candidate will be engaged in teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, advising and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students.
