The Microbial Sciences Institute (MSI) at Yale University in partnership with the Department of Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology (MCDB), seeks applicants for a tenure-trackassistant professorfaculty position in molecular, cellular, or developmental microbiology, or the intersection of these fields.
The MSI (http://microbialsciences.yale.edu) is a central hub where research teams from multiple departments contribute broad perspectives, approaches, and expertise in microbiology. Current research areas include biology of microbial communities, host-microbe interaction, and structural biology of microbial metabolism. The MSI values deep exploration of the microbial world, prizes mentorship and interaction, and aims to push the boundaries of microbiology.
The MCDB department (http://mcdb.yale.edu) shares a common interest in exploring the mechanisms underlying the coordinated behaviors of molecules, cells and tissues to form living organisms. MCDB labs combine genetic, biochemical, molecular, cell biological, computational and theoretical approaches to investigate fundamental biological processes across a range of organisms, from viruses and microbes to plants, worms, flies, fish and mammals.
Applications will be evaluated for alignment with both the MSI and MCDB, with a target start date of July 1, 2023. The position includes a full (primary) appointment in MCDB within the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, in addition to colleagues and research space in the MSI. The MSI and MCDB strive to foster a diverse, inclusive, and supportive community, and the application includes a personal statement to describe your perspective on the opportunities and challenges in building an equitable and inclusive environment. Women, protected veterans, persons with disabilities, and members of underrepresented minority groups are strongly encouraged to apply.
To answer questions about MSI and MCDB, the search process and faculty position, and our commitment to supporting and mentoring junior faculty, we will host a Q&A session by Zoom in early fall 2022 - check the MSI website for details.
Review of applications will begin November 15, 2022 and will continue until the position is filled. Inquiries about the position may be sent to the attention of Dr. Andrew Goodman, Director of the Microbial Sciences Institute, c/o Bianca Abreu (firstname.lastname@example.org).
