The Department of Chemistry at Michigan State University invites applications for a position of Postdoctoral Research Associate in the lab of Professor Tian (Autumn) Qiu. This position will support research projects in using imaging mass spectrometry for host-microbe and toxicology research, including:
1) Develop 4D mass spectrometry imaging methods on complex biological samples for neurochemicals and xenobiotics using a MALDI quadrupole time-of-flight (Q-TOF) mass spectrometer with trapped ion mobility spectrometry (TIMS).
2) Couple mass spectrometry imaging methods with other techniques including microscopy and LC-MS workflow.
3) Perform data analysis on the mass spectrometry imaging and LC-MS datasets.

PhD in chemistry, biochemistry, pharmacology, toxicology or related fields and any research experience.
Prior experience in imaging mass spectrometry is desired. Experience with biostatistics, biological sample preparation, LC-MS workflow, rodent animal experiments, microbiology and/or toxicology is a plus. Strong problem-solving abilities with self-motivation, collaborative and collegial working ethics, and willingness to mentor and assist other less experienced team members are preferred.
