St. Luke's is recruiting for our widely known Nursing Apprenticeship program, referred to as SNAP.
This employment experience will provide you with the opportunity to expand your nursing knowledge and critical thinking skills while working in direct patient care alongside experienced nursing professionals.
The St. Luke's Nurse Apprenticeship Program (SNAP) experience is designed to provide a supportive, positive, acute care experience for students to apply critical thinking and nursing knowledge while functioning in the role of a nurse apprentice. The purpose is to build relationships, gain knowledge and exposure to the benefits of a nursing career at St. Luke's Health System.
Two pathways to choose - Unit-based or floating!
This year we have expanded this program due to its popularity. We will have some positions that are unit-based in any of our Magic Valley Hospitals, or float pool positions that travel to 3 designated units!
Full time - May 2023 - July 2023 (Program starts in May for 10 weeks)
Flex schedule - August 2023 - May 2024 (One 12 hour shift a month)
BSN - Completed junior year of a four-year accredited baccalaureate program in nursing.
ADN - Completed first year of an accredited associate-level nursing (Magic Valley)
Letter from the Idaho State Board of Nursing verifying qualifications to function as a Nurse Apprentice.
Letter of recommendation from a nursing professor indicating a satisfactory academic record.
Current AHA Basic Cardiac Life Support for Healthcare Providers certificate.

Career Pathing - Go from SNAP to STAR!
Once you have completed your first year as a SNAP, your next opportunity would have you apply and move to our STAR Residency Training Program! Join all our new graduate RNs in our year-long STAR Residency Program to help you transition from a student nurse to successfully taking a full patient load.

Performs various patient care activities and related nonprofessional services necessary in caring for the personal needs and comfort of patients.
Assists in identifying patient needs and determining priority of care. Provides care to patients with conditions common to the unit/area of assignment.
Documents information in patient record.
Performs various direct patient care activities under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
Communicates information with patient care providers and other staff members to facilitate patient care.
Performs tasks and procedures as ordered by the physician under the supervision of a Registered Nurse consistent with approved protocols, policies, and procedures.
Performs tasks that require a unique body of knowledge and skills for that area of service.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
Must be enrolled in an accredited school of nursing (ACEN, CCNE, or CNEA accreditations)
Experience: 0 years's experience
Licenses/Certifications: Current BLS-CPR Certification and Nurse Apprentice Letter from the State Board of Nursing. The Nurse Apprentice is able to remain in the Nurse Apprentice position following graduation while awaiting RN or GN Licensure or 90 days - whichever comes first.
