University of Michigan Health Infection Prevention & Epidemiology department is looking for a qualified and highly motivated individual for the position of Infection Preventionist.
Perform contact tracing including but not limited to chart review, contacting workforce members to assess risk, and communicating to exposed workforce members and leadership.
Collaborate with the institutional high-level disinfection project manager on related issues.
Collect, review, analyze and interpret surveillance data.
Recommend appropriate actions to clinicians and administrators targeted to rescue or eliminate infectious risks in patients and staff.
Investigate clusters or outbreaks of infection.
Conduct activities related to exposure of patients and employees of communicable diseases.
Develop, review, evaluate and implement infection prevention and control policies to improve quality of care.
Observe, advise and train faculty and staff regarding assessing, preventing, and controlling infection risks.
Plan, develop and conduct educational programs for UMHHC employees.
Consult with department and administrative staff on infection prevention and control issues.
Initiate and /or participate in interdisciplinary quality improvement projects.
Develop routine quality improvement reports.
Conduct rounds and perform coaching on infection prevention priorities such as The Joint Commission and healthcare-associated infection prevention.
Provide liaison to regulatory and accrediting agencies and health departments.
A Bachelor's Degree in Public Health, Nursing or a related health field is necessary.
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Strong Analytical capabilities.
Minimum of two years of related experience.
Reasonable knowledge of medical microbiology.
Demonstrated experience working with databases and Tableau
Demonstrated ability to work independently and with groups.
Efficiently able to meet deadlines
Capable of performing multiple tasks simultaneously.
Highly self-motivated.
RN experience preferred.
Master's Degree in Public Health preferred.
Primarily Monday-Friday with some weekend coverage as needed. Full-time (40 hours)
