The student academic support tutor will assist students taking the science pre-requisite courses, including Anatomy & Physiology I & II, Microbiology and Chemistry, for completion of their application to the Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program. The academic support tutor provides personalized outreach and connection through mentorship designed to help students successfully complete their courses, build confidence, promote a growth mindset, build engagement and relationships, normalize challenges, and boost resiliency to overcome barriers that arise.
Essential responsibilities of this position include the following:
? Hold real-time virtual office hours for mentoring appointments during day, evening, or weekend hours ? Provide written feedback and assistance to help students master course content as needed ? Provide one-on-one and group mentorship to students enrolled at TESU via synchronous and asynchronous assistance ? Maintain confidentiality of all student information, material, and discussion shared in the mentoring relationship ? Discuss any mentee concerns with the student’s School of Nursing and Health Professions Advisor ? Understand and abide by all TESU policies and procedures ? Attend and participate in training sessions and meetings as needed ? Reflect the culture and values of TESU at all times ? Complete all other duties as assigned
? Bachelor’s Degree ? Expertise in Anatomy & Physiology, Microbiology and/or Chemistry ? Recent TESU graduate with a 3.4 cumulative GPA at TESU preferred ? Teaching experience preferred ? Access to a personal computer with a reliable internet connection, microphone, and camera ? Advanced computer software skills ? Excellent oral and written communication skills ? Works well both independently and as part of a team
NOTE: As a condition of employment, the candidate is required to provide proof of full COVID-19 vaccination. If a candidate is unable to be vaccinated against COVID-19 for medical or religious reasons, he/she will be required to submit a waiver request. Work Hours:
Tutors will be expected to work remotely up to 16 hours per week. This is a part-time position based on grant funding.
