Austin Peay State University’s Department of Allied Health Sciences seeks a 9 month, Assistant Professor, tenure-track faculty member for a well-established, NAACLS-accredited, Bachelor of Science program in Medical Laboratory Science to begin in Fall 2023.
Austin Peay State University is a four-year public, doctoral-level university, with six colleges and four Chairs of Excellence. The University has an enrollment of over 9,000 students and is located in Clarksville, Tennessee, a community of an estimated 166,000 people located approximately 40 miles northwest of Nashville, TN.
Teach lecture and laboratory courses in areas such as Hematology, Microbiology, Immunohematology, Urinalysis, and Clinical Chemistry, including general courses within the Medical Laboratory Science program in the Department of Allied Health Sciences;
Contribute to scholarly activity through publications, research, and grant opportunities;
Willingness and ability to develop other areas of the medical laboratory science curriculum including development of graduate programs in Medical Laboratory Science;
Provide oversight for medical laboratory science clinical internships; visit clinical sites;
Participate in recruitment events; assist with program accreditation;
Perform advising duties in support of students in medical laboratory science majors; and
Other duties as assigned by Austin Peay State University.

All tenure-track faculty are required to meet criteria in teaching excellence, advising, scholarly and creative work, and service to the university, professional organizations, and community.
Required Minimum Qualifications
Masters in Medical Laboratory Science, Health Sciences, or related scientific field. Special consideration given to candidates with a Doctoral degree.
Nationally recognized certification such as MT or MLS (ASCP) and current Tennessee licensure or eligibility required.
3 years of work experience as a Medical Laboratory Scientist
Must be qualified to teach medical laboratory science lecture and laboratory courses in different areas at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and other courses supportive of or relevant to the medical laboratory science curriculum.
A background search will be required of the successful candidate.
