JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: This position will execute, analyze, interpret, and performs a variety of research experiments and projects including data analysis and presentation, and lab operations. This position trains and manages other laboratory personnel to assist with and delineate mechanisms involved in the pathogenesis of respiratory infections in hosts with allergic asthma using advanced methodologies in immunology, cell and molecular biology, and microbiology.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Conduct animal studies independently and methodically maintains records pertaining animal study data.
2. Analyze and interpret data and results, including quantification of pathogenicity, viral and bacterial titration, sorting, and ELISA/Luminex data, and statistical analyses.
3. Perform studies with several mouse lines simultaneously in an organized manner.
4. Analyze acquired data using FlowJo and prepare publication quality graphs and images.
5. Design, stain, and acquire data on BD LSR Fortessa flow cytometer.
6. Conducts research projects, oversees other projects in the laboratory, and assists in training laboratory personnel (students, technicians, etc.).
7. Maintains an efficient laboratory operation by maintaining orderly up-to-date laboratory records, monitoring, and maintaining lab or departmental inventory and orders supplies as required.
8. Drafts manuscripts on assigned project and aids in grant preparation.
9. Conducts literature searches and systematic reviews.
10. Performs other duties as required and necessary.
