The Ting Lab at Stanford University (http://www.tinglab.org) is seeking a Life Science Research Professional 1 to be an integral member of a 14-member chemical biology research team that is developing novel molecular technologies for probing molecular and cellular networks in biology and neuroscience. The goal of this work is to develop transformative and scalable technologies to detect, manipulate, and discover novel pathways that give rise to function in living systems. We employ a wide range of techniques including directed evolution, protein engineering, computational protein design, spatial transcriptomics, CRISPR gene editing, and high-content microscopy in our work.
Candidate must be highly collaborative, resourceful, organized, enjoy problem solving, and have strong communication skills. This is a fantastic opportunity for a motivated and creative individual to participate in high impact, cutting-edge research at the forefront of modern biology, with real world applications to develop new therapeutics to improve human health, and with opportunities to publish your investigations. In addition, as our lab manager, you will manage daily laboratory functions, and support specific research projects in the design and execution of experiments. We seek motivated recent college graduates with substantial research experience who are looking for a launching pad into the next phase of their career.
Duties include:
Plan and execute biochemical and/or cell biological experiments related to specific research projects in the Ting laboratory. The Ting laboratory develops molecular technologies, such as proximity labeling and calcium recorders, for the study of protein networks and cellular networks in cell biology and neuroscience. LSRP1 may work on one or more of the project areas described here: http://www.tinglab.org/research
Support daily laboratory functions and research by purchasing reagents, maintaining laboratory stocks, overseeing laboratory safety, maintaining laboratory equipment, managing chemical inventory, and providing general lab support as needed.
Assist with orientation and training of new staff or students on lab procedures or techniques.
Work with the PI (Alice Ting) to maintain a positive and inclusive lab culture.
Analyze data and troubleshoot experiments in collaboration with one or more senior researchers. Review literature on an ongoing basis to remain current with new procedures and apply learnings to related research. Contribute to publication of findings as needed. Participate in the preparation of written documents, including procedures, presentations, and proposals.
