This research position is within the Translational Center for Resuscitative Trauma Care. Our mission is to develop and evaluate innovative, effective acute trauma care from point of injury through early post-injury in austere, low resource, rural, and emergency care settings. Create a multidisciplinary, translational research center that brings together trauma and emergency care research across the state of Minnesota and develops faculty and trainee research careers. This position supports the clinical and pre-clinical research within the Center. It is expected that the person in this position work independently with minimal guidance from the supervisor.
Responsibilities:
(70%) Conduct experiments using animal and human samples and associated data. Extensive sample analysis is required. Collect data for pre-clinical and clinical date.
RT-PCR
ELISA
Additional analyses as needed
Large and small animal studies with support of Experimental Surgery team
Troubleshoot technical problems
Evaluate new and developing models
Use basic statistical methods to analyze data
Present findings to research team
Provide technical support and training for graduate and medical students
(25%) Data Analysis and Management
Perform data entry and keep detailed records of experiments and procedures
Generate experiment reports
Manage sample repository
(5%) Additional duties
Assist with ongoing R&D operations as time allows and as assigned by supervisor

All required qualifications must be documented on application materials.
Required qualifications:
BA/BS plus two (2) years of experience or a combination of education and work experience in a biological lab to total six (6) years in Biology, or a related field of science
Previous experience in a research setting
Must be able to stand at a laboratory bench or hood for extended periods of time and lift up to 40 lbs.
Must be willing to work in a large animal OR
Must be willing to take an occasional overnight shift
Preferred qualifications:
Interest in biomarker and/or pre-clinical research
Experience with RT-PCR and/or ELISAs
Experience with microbiology
Experience working with small and large animal models
