Job Description Summary:

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Science Degree in microbiology, biomedical sciences or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
• Three years' biosafety related experience in a university or hospital lab environment.
• Laboratory and biological safety related experience in a university or biomedical lab environment.
• Familiar with biosafety requirements for work with bloodborne pathogens, microbiological agents and recombinant DNA.
• Experience preparing and delivering instructional materials covering laboratory and biological safety .
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint applications.
• Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Must possess a valid driver's license and driving record acceptable to the University by the University's insurance carrier.
• Occasional lifting requiring the execution of up to fifty pounds of force to move and use supplies and equipment.
• Completion of a physical to verify the applicant's ability to perform the duties of the position. Must complete fingerprinting and an FBI criminal history background check.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Extensive course work in microbiology or the biomedical sciences with a Bachelor's or Master's degree in microbiology, occupational or public health.
• Experience working in a research or biomedical laboratory environment.
• Familiar with laboratory safety and biosafety concepts.
