This position will support the Carbonshed Laboratory, located within the Department of Geography at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The primary purpose of this position is to provide personnel and research management to a physical science laboratory on the UNC-Chapel Hill campus. This position will work with the supervisor and independently to coordinate workflow, supervise other lab personnel, including undergraduate and graduate students, and operate specific laboratory equipment and instruments. The Laboratory Manager will act as the laboratory safety manager, implementing and maintaining all necessary safety documentation, ensuring all lab participants have undertaken proper training, and maintaining safety records. The Manager will be responsible for ordering the necessary materials and supplies.

The Laboratory Manager is expected to carry out laboratory procedures and recommend improvements/changes to any processes to supervisor. The Manager will be expected to assist with writing funding proposals, ensuring the goals of current research grants are being met.

Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
