The Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics at Michigan State University (MSU) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position. We anticipate an appointment at the Assistant Professor level, but highly qualified applicants at all ranks will also be considered. We seek applicants who use state-of-the-art techniques and model systems to study cancer biology, immunology, and/or immunotherapy associated with microbes such as tumor virology, oncolytic virus/viral oncotherapy, bacterial agents of cancer, and cancer microbiome/virome. We are particularly interested in applicants whose research complements existing strengths in the Department (https://mmg.natsci.msu.edu) and the MSU Cancer Research Group (https://cancer.msu.edu) across the Colleges of Human Medicine, Osteopathic Medicine, and Veterinary Medicine. The ideal applicant will be an outstanding investigator with exceptional promise, a proven record of research achievement, and the ability to attract funding, who will contribute to the highly interactive and collaborative environment in MSU and ourunique partnership as Henry Ford Health + Michigan State University Health Sciences (https://www.henryfordmsu.org/).
The successful applicant is expected to establish and maintain a vigorous, extramurally funded research program in their area of expertise and contribute to teaching undergraduate, graduate, and/or professional students associated with the Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics. Applicants must hold a PhD, MD, DO, DVM, or equivalent degree, with postdoctoral experience and a strong record of research productivity and lead author publications in peer-reviewed journals.
