The Department of Nutrition and Food Science at Cal Poly Pomona invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor, appointment effective Fall 2024. Duties and responsibilities: Teaching: The new faculty member will be expected to teach and develop a selection of undergraduate and graduate level courses within the Didactic Program in Dietetics, Nutrition Science, and Nutrition and Health curriculums; Research/Scholarship: The new faculty member will be expected to produce and develop a record of research/scholarly activities, including securing internal and external funding, publications and other contributions, commensurate with their area of expertise; and Service: The new faculty member will be expected to participate in committee service to the Department, College and University.
An earned doctorate in Dietetics/Nutrition Education, Nutrition Biochemistry/Metabolism, Nutrition Research/Nutrition Science, Sustainable Food Systems, Public Health or a closely related field from an accredited university. Proof of degree completion by the start date of the position is required.
A current Registered Dietitian (RD)/Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) credential
A commitment and a record of contributions to student success through applicant’s teaching, scholarship, or service. This will be described in the Student Success Statement, which must address at least two of the inclusive excellence criteria listed on job announcement.
Preferred/Desired Qualifications:
Evidence of expertise in one or more of the following: Brain-Gut Connection, Eating Disorders, Plant-Based Diet and Health, Integrated and Functional Nutrition and Health, Gut Microbiome, Entrepreneurship, Nutrition and Mental Health
University-level teaching experience
Demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence
Dietetics Practice experience
Proficiency in Spanish
Experience supervising undergraduate and graduate research
Active involvement in professional societies related to Nutrition and Dietetics
