Position Summary:
A Research Technician III position is immediately available in the lab of Dr. Ryan Hunter (Department of Microbiology & Immunology) for a motivated research associate to manage day-to-day laboratory operations on various Cystic Fibrosis Foundation / NIH-funded studies focusing on the microbiology of chronic airway disease. This translational effort will leverage cutting-edge stable isotope probing and proteomic technologies, genomics and microbiome analysis, imaging, epithelial cell culture, and animal models of airway disease to probe in vivo bacterial activity and their interactions with the host epithelium. Responsibilities will include:
Conducting routine experiments following appropriate protocols and procedures
Recording results and maintaining accurate records of experiments
Performing data interpretation, statistical analyses, data interpretations, and communicating findings with the PI
Assisting in writing manuscripts
Training junior members of the laboratory and assisting others when/where expertise is needed
Performing weekly lab maintenance duties
Keeping detailed ordering and budgetary records that apply to specific grants
Investigating and evaluating vendors and products
Managing IRB/IACUC/IBC protocols and ensuring regulatory compliance

Minimum Qualifications:
Associate's degree or higher in Science in Microbiology or related field
4 years or more of experience directly related to the project or program
Preferred Qualifications:
Expertise in one or more of microbial genetics, FPLC/HPLC, and/or anaerobic bacterial culture
Experience working with research animals (mice or rabbits)
