DESCRIPTION
Performs specimen processing, accessioning, Phlebotomy, heel and finger sticks, customer service, clerical duties, effective communication with laboratory customers, problem resolution, record keeping, supply inventory and maintenance, as well as cleaning and maintaining a safe work environment). Additional duties Include operation of instruments, preventative maintenance as appropriate to each section/dept. assigned. Performs all duties in a manner consistent with current laboratory safety standards. Maintains a current Phlebotomy Certification issued by the state of California Laboratory Field Services.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT).
Proven knowledge of Hospital Isolation, Infection Control protocols, patient comfort/safety, medical terminology.
Demonstrated knowledge of laboratory regulations, laws, and ethical requirements.
Possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the duties of the position.
Demonstrated skills/knowledge in basic collection and specimen preparation, storage and disposal of the specimen.
Possess excellent customer service and effective communication skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Two (2) years of hospital experience.
One to two (1 - 2) years of experience with hospital automation.
Proven experience with specimen processing.
Demonstrated experience working in high volume lab.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS
Must be able to work variable shifts/hours, on-call, weekend rotations, holidays, swing shifts and variable locations based on the needs of a 24-hour Medical Centers business.
May be required to travel to other UC San Diego Health locations based on daily staffing needs.

Annual Full Pay Range: $53,996 - $67,129 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)
Hourly Equivalent: $25.86 - $32.15
