Research Associate

Job Summary:

The person in this position will work with a team of scientists within the Department of Animal Science focused on improving the health, welfare, and productive efficiency of food animals. The selected applicant will be responsible for performing research implementing cellular and molecular methods to include activities such as RNA/DNA isolation, quantitative PCR, DNA polymorphism analysis, cell culture, ELISAs and other biochemical assays. The selected applicant will aid in identifying, developing, and executing methods to accomplish the overall goals of labs primarily focused on immunology, microbiology, and genetic research questions. Successful candidates also will have the willingness and ability to summarize data, aid in interpretations, and develop materials for publication. The selected applicant will serve as the lab manager, train student workers, and supervise lab activities. Applicants should demonstrate a positive attitude, the ability to work effectively in a team and independently, effective oral and written communication skills, and the ability to multi-task.
