Independently designs, coordinates, executes and analyzes complex and broad scope methods for interrogating wild microbial populations; scalable data analytics from time-resolved phage-host interaction experiments; advanced molecular and microbial cultivation techniques for the development of both single-cell genomics and mRNA-rRNA approaches to identify viral-host linkages in environmental samples; ability to design and lead large multi-omics sampling experiments; advanced skills required for nanopore long-read sequencing. Critical analyses of published data and methods to inform experimental design. Anticipation and communication of conflicts and timelines for projects. Train, critique, facilitates, and provides feedback on experiments undertaken by research staff, as well as undergraduates and graduate students. Logistical capabilities including ordering, shipping, lab organization and maintenance of supplies.
Required: Masters degree and/or combination of equivalent experience in Microbiology or related field. Four years of relevant experience executing lab protocols as well as develop, validate, and implement new protocols (specifically with understanding Phage Host interactions and using Oxford Nanpore technology); Strong analytical and technical skills for evaluating and solving lab related issues; Strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills; Experienced in training wet-lab team members and managing undergraduates; Experience enforcing laboratory standards.
