We are seeking a Research Specialist who will assist with research projects related to invitro fertilization and intracytoplasmic transfer and embryo development and embryo transfer in marmosets. Maintain laboratory protocols to create transgenic marmosets using gene editing and transgenic strategies to examine gene function in brain, development and reproductive organs. Must maintain standards of assisted reproduction success that meet industry standards. Coordinate and provide support to the clinical/veterinary team.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Make intellectual contribution to scientific research interests of the lab.
Collaborate with Principal Investigators (PIs) and senior staff to develop, design, and manage research projects.
Contribute original thoughts, hypotheses, and analysis to writing peer-reviewed manuscripts, reports, and grants.
Perform sophisticated data analysis utilizing extensive knowledge base and varied methods experience.
In the ART lab, perform and develop validation protocols.
Act as consultant to refine or adapt methodologies and troubleshoot to fit research objectives.
Collaborate in development of new technologies, protocols and standard guidelines for use of equipment.
Ensure safe working environment by complying with laboratory safety guidelines.
Assist Laboratory Director and report to Division Director internally regarding weekly progress.
Isolation of oocytes from surgical specimens.
Preparation of sperm from specimens.
In vitro fertilization or ICSI of oocytes.
Culture of embryos.
Examination and scoring of embryos.
Selection and loading of transfer catheter with embryos.
Preparation and maintenance of detailed records for all experimental procedures.
Embryo transfer procedures.
Assist with manuscript preparation and submission.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Chemistry or related field.
One year laboratory experience performing relevant techniques.
Master's degree, with related graduate research, may substitute for experience to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications
MD or PhD Degree in Biology, Chemistry or related field.
Three years laboratory experience in a comparable ART laboratory performing relevant techniques.
