Summary of Position: This is a 50% time position.The purpose of the position is to support a research assistant professor in a drosophila neurobiology laboratory that conducts research in genetics and cell biology, using drosophila (fruit fly) as a model organism. This research is focused on understanding the genetic and molecular contributions to Alzheimerâ™s disease and other neurodegenerative disorders. Research will involve molecular and biochemical work, fly genetics and dissections, fly husbandry, tissue preparation and optical imaging. The researcher will work closely with the research assistant professor but be able to carry out experiments and analyses independently. Additional activities include lab maintenance duties, ordering supplies, and making solutions.
