What Chemistry Services contributes to Cardinal Health
Chemistry services performs laboratory testing to characterize the chemistries of our medical device products and stability testing for pharmaceutical products of Cardinal Health. Under the umbrella of QRMA, Chem Services develops and executes test protocols utilizing specialized instrumentation and analytical techniques to characterizes medical devices, materials, and processing aids for chemical properties of concern or the chemical constituents which may be released when a device is utilized during clinical use. The Chemistry Service will also use specialized instruments to perform Assay and impurity/degradant tests for stability and release testing for solid dose pharmaceutical. Chemistry Services is a part of QRMA Scientific Services.
Responsibilities
As part of General Laboratory Operations, provide Timely and High-Quality laboratory support to execute Studies.
Performs essential routine laboratory tasks (e.g., reagent preparation, sample extraction, sample preparation) per standard operating procedures or written instructions.
Performs routine analytical testing per standard operating procedures or written instructions (e.g., pH, UV absorbance, gravimetric analysis, temperature, visual inspection, titrations, compendial tests and TOC, etc.) as needed.
Operates and maintains equipment necessary to perform functions noted above.
Assists senior team members in performing more advanced laboratory operations as appropriate.
Performs inventory control for test samples and laboratory chemicals, reagents, and supplies.
Receives and logs Sponsor materials for testing.
Completes chain of custody documentation for test article tracking.
Prints and affix tracking labels on all containers.
Transfer samples to appropriate custody refrigerators/freezers.
Procures, labels, and stores essential laboratory supplies.
Ensures regent and supplies are available in necessary quantities and within assigned shelf life.
Prepares and maintains sterile glassware for the sample preparation process. Processes glassware through washer, autoclave and dehydrogenation oven as needed.
Operates, cleans, and maintains incubators, hoods, and other routinely utilized equipment.
Maintains an efficient and clean work area by organizing and restocking the sample preparation lab as needed.
Maintains laboratory safety via safe laboratory practices and proper use of well-maintained safety-related equipment and PPE.
Perform all laboratory operations consistent with GLP and GMP as appropriate.
Qualifications
Associates or B.S. degree in a scientific discipline preferred or equivalent work experience.
0-2 years of laboratory experience, experience in a GLP and GMP laboratory setting desired.
Must be a quick learner; highly motivated, able to work independently and under supervision, and follow prescribed methods and procedures (SOPs).
Experience using LIMS.
Must possess the ability to multitask.
Must be detail oriented, reliable, and meticulous.
Able to work in a fast-paced, high-expectation environment.
Must possess strong communication skills.
Proficient in Microsoft office, Excel knowledge preferred.
Must be an effective team player in a supporting role.
Must be able to both follow and question instructions.
What is expected of you and others at this level
Knowledge and experience with basic laboratory operations.
Familiarity with basic scientific principles and understanding of basic scientific techniques.
Must be able to safely work in lab setting with exposure to chemicals.
Must be able to wear appropriate PPE and use appropriate laboratory safety systems (e.g., eyewashes, showers, etc.).
Ability to stand / sit / walk for long portions of work shift.
Must be able to lift at least 25 lbs.
Must have experience working with computer programs LIMS and Microsoft office.
Must possess good communication and writing skills.
Must be able to read and understand standard operating procedures and work instructions.
Anticipated salary range: $88,700 - $126,800
