JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:The Financial Associate performs routine accounting activities for grants, contracts and state supported activities including financial reporting, budget preparation and maintenance according to UT policies and procedures. This position performs complex accounting, financial, payroll and/or budgeting special projects as directed by the Grants Administrator or Financial Coordinator for the Department of Microbiology, Immunology and Biochemistry (MIB).
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provides accounting support to faculty and administration concerning grants, contracts and state funds to ensure all expenditures are appropriate and within defined budgets according to UT policies and procedures.
Reviews invoices and assigns an account code by expense type.
Ensures all appropriate paperwork is attached (order form, packing slip, invoice, etc...).
Scans documents and enters vendor invoice data into IRIS for approval. Initiate transfer vouchers in IRIS when necessary.
Generates/reconciles monthly IRIS ledgers & financial accounting analyses including accounting budget projections for assigned accounts.
Reviews charges to the ledgers for department accounts.
Compiles and prepares documents to support Procurement Card charges for AMP and PPG accounts.
Reviews, verifies and inputs other departmental Purchasing Cards.
