We are seeking a collaborative, energetic, and innovative full-time biology instructor who is committed to student retention and success. The instructor will be responsible for establishing and promoting an effective learning environment to maximize student learning in both the face-to-face an online classroom. They may be assigned to teach various levels of microbiology, general biology, or environmental science courses in the traditional classroom and/or blended/hybrid/online setting and must be available to teach courses during the evening, weekend, and nontraditional times as needed in the Science and Mathematics Division at Delta College. In addition, we seek candidates whose teaching and/or service have prepared them to fulfill our commitment to belonging, equity, diversity, and inclusion (BEDI).

Teach at least 30 equated credit hours annually of biology courses, specifically in the subfield of microbiology, introductory biology, and/or environmental science.

Continually develop appropriate innovation in learning and teaching to meet diverse learning styles and student needs.
Collaborate voluntarily and energetically with colleagues in the academic discipline and with other faculty colleagues to develop effective learning experiences for a diverse student body.

Required Qualifications:
Master of Science degree in biology or a related discipline with a minimum of 18 credit hours in microbiology, cellular & molecular biology, environmental science or other closely related subject areas from a regionally accredited institution of higher education.
Commitment to creating an inclusive classroom climate and designing curricula that foster greater sense of community.
Recent experience in teaching biology in an active learning environment.
Experience using a variety of teaching modalities, educational technology, and delivery methods including online.
Demonstrated current knowledge in microbiology, cellular & molecular biology, &/or environmental science.
Ability to teach on multiple Delta campuses and online (asynchronous and synchronous).
Additional Experiences Considered:
Teaching experience at the community college level.
Relevant teaching experience in the content area and at the community college level.
Post-doctoral work in a related field.
Demonstrated current and ongoing professional growth
Experience working with non-traditional students from diverse backgrounds and with varying academic skills.
Demonstrated experience working as part of a committee, learning community, grant project, or other related education-based group that requires collegiality and teamwork.
