FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
The Department of Biological Sciences at HUNTER COLLEGE OF THE CITY UNIVERSITY OF NEW YORK (CUNY) invites applications at the Assistant, Associate or Professor rank for a named Chair position. This tenure-track position will establish the Clara M. Szego Endowed Professorship in Molecular, Cell & Developmental Biology.
The endowment provides added compensation and a research allowance. The individual will participate in teaching, research, and guidance duties in areas of biological sciences. Additional duties include shared responsibility for committee and department assignments including administrative, supervisory, and other functions. This position is open to all areas of the biological sciences, but we seek candidates with research interests that will complement and intersect with the Department?s research foci in Cancer Biology, Microbiology and Infectious Disease, and Neurobiology.
Earliest anticipated start date Fall 2026.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are seeking an established scholar with a current record of extramural funding and a continuing history of publications in relevant journals. The candidate must have a demonstrated commitment to experimental research and teaching. A Ph.D. in a discipline within the biological sciences is required. Teaching experience and a record of team management experience are required for applications at the Associate or Full Professor level.
COMPENSATION

Assistant Professor Salary: $90,838- $109,025
Associate Professor Salary: $109,898- $129,041
Professor Salary: $131,440- $155,388
CUNY is in the process of implementing salary schedule increases. Once implemented, salaries of eligible employees will increase by approximately 9.54% with an additional increase of 3.5% effective 9/1/26, in accordance with the terms of the PSC-CUNY collective bargaining agreement.
