Department of Laboratory Medicine/Transfusion Medicine Faculty Position at the University of California, San Francisco
The University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), Department of Laboratory Medicine is seeking a full-time Clinical Pathologist at the San Francisco Veterans Affairs Health Care System (VAHCS). Applicants must hold an M.D. or M.D/ Ph.D. degrees with eligibility for California medical licensure, and be board certified/eligible in Anatomic & Clinical Pathology (AP/CP) or Clinical Pathology (CP). Subspecialty board certification or eligibility in Transfusion Medicine is desirable. Additional interest in Molecular Microbiology, Hematology and/or Clinical Chemistry is preferred.
This position is at the Assistant or Associate Professor level in the HS Clinical or Clinical X series, which emphasizes strong commitment to excellence in clinical service and teaching. Demonstrated interest and experience in teaching (at both resident/fellow and medical student levels) is preferred. Clinical/translational research or other scholarly/creative activities are expected for applicants in the Clinical X series. Candidates meet all required qualifications at the time of appointment. The successful candidate will be a member of a team of Clinical Pathologists responsible for the daily operations of the Lab Medicine Service at SFVAHCS, which is a major UCSF-affiliated teaching hospital. The Lab Medicine Service provides diagnostic testing including immunohematology and hematopathology services to the San Francisco VA Healthcare System, a comprehensive network that provides health services to Veterans throughout Northern California. The successful candidate will be responsible for management of the Transfusion Service at SFVAHCS and will chair the Transfusion Committee of the network.
Salary and title will be commensurate with the applicant's experience and training.
