The UCLA Immunogenetics Center, Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA has an immediate opening for a Project Scientist with expertise in immunology, Immunogenetics or related field. The Project Scientist will be responsible for developing, implementing and managing translational research projects that fit in the general strategic objectives of the Immunogenetics Center. The successful candidate will: participate in project design and management and testing for intramural and extramural grant and contract funding; develop and validate new assays, protocols and platforms; develop SOPs, assay specifications and quality measures; train employees; promote the use of validated assays within and beyond the UCLA community; compile and present experimental results to the project team; prepare publications and present experimental results at scientific meetings. He/she should be able to work collaboratively with other areas as part of an interdepartmental project team.
The applicant must have a Ph.D. in immunology, immunogenetics or related field such as microbiology, biotechnology and experience in flow cytometry, assessment of soluble analytes cellular immune function assays and molecular biology. Experience in assay development is highly desired. Foundational knowledge immunology is required, with experience in human immunology preferred. The candidate must have excellent communication, interpersonal skills and organizational skills.
