What You’ll Do
In this dynamic leadership role, you’ll oversee key areas including laboratory operations, component preparation, transfusion services, and distribution. You’ll work closely with the Technical Services Director to uphold the highest standards of safety, compliance, and efficiency.
Your responsibilities will include:
Stepping in as Acting Technical Services Director when needed
Overseeing batch release prior to donor unit labeling
Leading and scheduling lab and component teams across shifts
Managing inventory and billing processes
Driving process improvements and operational excellence
Coaching staff and fostering a culture of continuous feedback
Delivering outstanding service to hospitals, EMS, and transfusion clients
Maximizing the use of donated blood products and reducing waste
Supporting budget planning and monitoring
Ensuring facility and equipment maintenance
Leading quality control, validations, and proficiency testing
Conducting staff training and competency assessments
Building strong relationships with team members and external partners
Education & Certification:
Bachelor’s in Medical Technology or related science with MT certification
OR Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology with certification
OR equivalent experience with certification
Medical Technologist Certification (ASCP or equivalent)
Experience:
5+ years as a Medical Technologist, ideally with experience in chemistry, hematology, blood banking, and microbiology
Shepeard Community Blood Center is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit blood center. Our mission is to collect, process, and distribute blood and blood products. We are the contracted provider for 23 hospitals in 30 counties across the two-state area. We partner with donors, the local volunteer blood donor, to fulfill our mission.
